We host many charity events at The City Rooms and this particular client wanted a black-tie James Bond themed event – complete with a red carpet, props and roulette table - all in aid of charity Unique Home for Girls.
After guests made their way through our beautiful doors and up the red carpet, complete with a post and rope barrier, they were greeted with James Bond themed drinks, including vodka martinis.
The décor for the evening was classic with black and white linen and draping in the Ballroom, perfectly complimented with red up-lighting. The décor was elegant and simplistic, on this occasion our beautiful candelabras looked absolutely exquisite and in-keeping with the theme of the evening without the need for floral displays.
Guests were treated to a delicious four-course meal, prepared by our in-house chefs. Starters consisted of warm baby carrot and parsnip tartlet with sage and butternut purée and duo of Smoked Salmon, these were followed by a mouth-watering intermediate course of mojito sorbet.
For the main course guests were served apricot and sage roasted turkey, with a cranberry reduction, leek and herb stuffing and chipolata wrapped in bacon or a roasted vegetable and macadamia nut roast with cranberry reduction and leek and herb stuffing. Guests then enjoyed Christmas pudding ice-cream with amaretto glazed fruits and warm chocolate and pecan brownies served with clotted cream for dessert.
Guests had a fantastic evening dancing and mingling the night away and enjoyed the roulette table which worked an absolute treat in our Dining Room. In total more than £4k was raised from the evening for Unique Home for Girls.
Along with the many balls and private events we host at The City Rooms, we hold many special birthday dinners, each of them exceptional in their own unique way. This particular dinner was in celebration of a client’s 50th birthday, guests were to be treated to a sumptuous seven-course meal prepared freshly by our wonderful in-house chefs.
The setting for this birthday dinner was our beautiful Dining Room, holding up to 70 people this is the perfect setting for intimate events with a direct link to our stunning bar which can also be decorated to our clients’ specifications.
To create a ‘family’ atmosphere we hired in a special long table which the whole family could sit down to. Guests enjoyed a green pea veloute with serrano ham and truffle oil before a starter of Gressingham duck with parsnip rosti and red onion and port jus and a sorbet course of mojito sorbet. Mains consisted of neck fillet of lamb cauliflower and goat’s cheese mash with Lincoln baby carrots and were followed by a mouth-watering pre-dessert of pistachio and white chocolate panna cotta and a dessert of duck egg crème brulee with Baileys and a marzipan crust.
The evening ended after guests brought in their own special birthday cake to top-off the celebratory dinner and left in very high-spirits having enjoyed an evening that would be remembered by all.
