Candy Buffets for Weddings

Candy Buffets for WeddingsWe think that this is the sweetest wedding trend that we have ever seen! The bonbon is back and gummies are going down a treat this season in the world of weddings. What are we referring to? It could only be the colourful candy buffet! The candy buffet is an alternative to traditional wedding favours which are usually placed on the dinner tables at wedding breakfasts. Instead you set up your own pick n mix table and have a right old sugar fest that will keep your guests dancing until the early hours! We have seen many different types of favours being used by brides at our wedding venue here in Leicester but this is definitely our favourite. So forget bride and groom and bring on Hansel and Gretel!

You can order a pre-packed candy buffet from specialist suppliers but where is the fun in that? Here are a few ideas for a DIY candy buffet for your wedding.

Sweets:

The best places to buy sweets for a candy buffet are at a local wholesale store, online or at a local market. We here in Leicester have a fantastic outdoor market and there are many very reasonably priced sweet stalls to be found there. A wholesaler will sell big tubs and large bags of pick n mix sweets and online is best for buying retro style sweets.

Jars:

Big ones, small ones, some as big as your head! Take your pick. You can use traditional pick n mix stands, glass jars or any kind of receptacle! Try getting a number of bowls, jars and vases in a selection of sizes. Get some paper and ribbon that match your colour scheme and make labels for each jar. Attach with the ribbon. It will look fantastic.

Scoops:

Pick n Mix scoops are fairly inexpensive and come in a range of colours. Alternatively you could just use large serving spoons or even small ladles!

Bags:

You could go down the traditional pick n mix paper bag route which is very cute. Alternatively you could use candy cones, miniature gift bags or prettily patterned cellophane bags.
