The City Rooms Turns 5!

April 19th, 2012

The City Rooms turned 5 this year and a big celebration was held on the 13th April. Everyone was invited from clients, suppliers to close family and friends of The City Rooms. Guests were welcomed with a glass of champagne and directed to our Grand Ballroom. The Ballroom was given a unique make over with gold fountains, pink uplighters and a glittering dance floor. Our Head Chef Nigel created a canapé menu with bitesize goats cheese tartlets, yorkshire puddings filled with roast beef and king prawns served with sweet potato puree. To add to the culinary experience we had a Sushi and Oyster Bar for the guests to enjoy.

Guests were entertained with a soul cover band called Soul Express followed by a DJ from Cream Entertainment.

It’s been a successful year for The City Rooms with events ranging from magazine lauches, corporate functions to spectacular weddings.  Kiran Parmar, MD of The City Rooms said ‘It was a fabulous evening combined with a perfect opportunity to socialise and interact with our fellow colleagues in the industry.’ The Birthday Party collaborated with Rainbows Children’s Hospice to raise funds for the charity. Gifts were donated by suppliers and The City Rooms and a raffle was drawn for the prizes. Congratulations to those that won.

Affiliates Magazine Launch Party

March 9th, 2012

On Wednesday 29th February, Leap Year Day, a group of Leicester based businesses, (including Douglas Wemyss Solicitors, Greenshires Publishing, Bobby Dhanjal Wealth Management, Leicester Tile Centre, M-Cubed Chartered Accountants, Search Recruitment and Stu-Nique Fitness) held a very special exclusive networking event for business owners and entrepreneurs at the chic City Rooms in the heart of the City in aid of The James Caan Foundation Charity.

We were delighted to have in attendance Hanah Caan, Trustee of the James Caan Foundation to talk about the wonderful work that the Foundation is involved in.  Hanah highlighted the continuing needs of the people of Pakistan and their ongoing plight since the devastating floods that wiped out entire towns and villages – and most importantly that these people cannot be forgotten about as they still need our help in building back their villages and their lives.  As businesses with a charitable responsibility we were very much moved by the Foundations ‘Build A Village Project’ and this is why we decided to help by holding this event in aid of this charitable cause.

The main focal point of the evening was to raise as much funds as possible and we are pleasedto announce that we raised over £4,000 on the night!

Hanah Caan, Trustee of the James Caan Foundation commented on the success of the event.
“I was delighted to be able to attend the event on Wednesday. It was amazing to see the people of Leicester still remember the need of the millions of people still struggling with the aftermath of the floods.  Thank you so much to Asma and Sameer (of Douglas Wemyss Solicitors) for their kind generosity and support.”

We had many generous donations for the auction; prizes included: Signed books from James Caan (ex-Dragons Den star), Diamond Jewelry from Goldsmiths, Personal Coaching session with ex-England Cricket star Paul Nixon and hire of a Mercedes-Benz SLK 250 Sport Automatic to name but a few!

Asma Karim (of Douglas Wemyss Solicitors, Leicester) stated: “I am extremely grateful to all of the companies and individuals for their generous donations of raffle and auction prizes; it is this collective coming together of local Leicester based businesses that helped us to raise the monies for charity – not forgetting of course everyone who placed generous bids and bought raffle tickets.”

The evening consisted of elegant savory and sweet canapés catered for by City Rooms in-house chef and served with sparkling wine, and the atmosphere was brought to life by an array of entertainers, including a live pianist, a magician, a Michael Jackson dance impersonator and a singer!
