The City Rooms is a beautiful
Georgian Grade 1 listed building located in the heart of Leicester City
Centre. The historic venue, built in 1792, was intended to become Leicester's
first hotel, used to house the visitors to the Leicester Races held at
Victoria Park. Sadly, the hotel was never completed and the building was
sold with the ground floor being used as a coffee house and the upper
floors for banquets, wedding receptions and balls. Then in 1817 it passed
into the hands of the County Justices for the Judges Lodgings.
